Shirley has painted some of the country located close to her home or Mulan, west of Balgo. The central motif depicts Sturt Creek, as it flows south west into Lake Gregory. Shirley has painted the changing colours of Sturt Creek, of the landscape and water. It runs from dry grasses of yellow and red, with milky water, to bush flowers and medicine which line blue clear water.
